My Job

Like I said over here, my name is Mark and I am a god to millions of little bits in the Enabling Technology Lab at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where I do a lot of 3D graphics, simulation, and high performance computing work. In my spare time, I run the UAB Game Developers Club.

My Music

I LOVE music, and as you can see I listen to a lot of Power and Symphonic Metal. And according to the chart over there --->, my favorite band is Blind Guardian !! Seeing me walk down the street without headphones and rocking out is a rarity.

My Travels

I love travelling and seeing new places. I've really gotten into couch surfing since it is a fantastic way to see a new place from a local's point of view and to learn more about the local culture. I'm heading to Europe here soon and plan to couch surf quite a bit. I also can't wait to finally see some of my favorite bands that never make it to the states!

My Nerdiness

I know, I'm a nerd, and I'm not afraid of it! I've always been into video games, although these days I like creating video games more than playing them. You can see what I've done at the GameDev website, or check out one of our most recent games, BBM

I am a linux enthusiast and member of the Birmingham Area Linux Users Group. I run linux on all 5 of my computers and my work computer. All my development is under linux, but I make sure all my programs and games work under Linux, Windows, MacOSX, and FreeBSD, (and sometimes IRIX and Solaris). I'm a GNU Hippie and believe in open source and all games and software I write are released under the GPL.

My Interests

I you look down, you should be able to figure out my favorite tv show. Yup, Futurama, it rules! (I promise I have more interests than futurama, I'm just too lazy to list them!!)

Leela:Didn't you have ads in the twentieth century?
Fry:Well, sure, but not in our dreams. Only on TV and radio...and in magazines...and movies, and at ballgames, and on buses, and milk cartons, and T-shirts, and bananas, and written in the sky. But not in dreams, no sirree.
