My Job
I am currently working in the Enabling Technology Lab at the University Of Alabama at Birmingham as a software engineering. My main focuses are augmented/virtual reality and high performance computing. For more about my work, see my resume
My Duties
Besides writing software, I am also involved in writing grants, research and education, writing papers, presenting my research and software at conferences, and occasional substitute teaching programming classes in the engineering department.
My Current Projects
I am involved in some way on most of the project we work on, but here are several projects I am currently heavily involved in:
Virtual Interactive Presence
The Virtual Interactive Presence (VIP) System is designed to allow experts to export their expertise to a remote site through virtual and augmented reality technologies. By utilizing augmented reality, we can insert computer models into the real scene, enhancing the visual field for the surgeon.
For more details, please see our project site.
CaseMan
CaseMan is case management software currently deployed at several DoD and NASA super computing sites. CaseMan is designed to allow regular users to setup, submit, manage, and analyze thousands of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations without direct knowledge of the solver or super computer the simulation is running on. By handling all the tasks of generating the solver specific input files, generating batch scripts, and handling all the submission and code execution on the super computer, analysts without a computer background can easily analyze thousands of designs.
